Yes, you heard that right! Our very own African screen goddess, Lupita Nyong’o has been up to something really exciting.
Last year, there were rumours that a Charlie’s Angels reboot was on the way, to be directed by Elizabeth Banks.
Now, Deadline is reporting that that the final cast has been announced and the new fighting trio will include Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Scott, and Twilight’s Kristen Stewart.
Charlie’s Angels was deemed a classic after the first one hit the big screen in the year 2000, with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu starring as the crime fighters working at a private detective agency for the mysterious, unseen character, Charlie Townsend.
This would be the first time in history that a black girl is cast as part of the popular trio. The closest we ever came to this was the Destiny’s Child Charlie’s Angels inspired music video.
The reboot is slated to hit theatres June 7, 2019, and best believe we will be there to watch and cheer on our girl.
