As I scrolled through my Instagram feed, a video of a cute little girl speaking caught my attention. As I looked beneath the video to see who the post belonged to, I saw it was ex-Destiny’s Child member and ‘Back to life’ singer, Letoya Luckett. The caption read simply: ‘Big news from MADISON’. So, of course, I waited till the very end of the video to hear the big news. No, I’m not nosy, just really intelligent.
Before I go into too much detail about the announcement, Madison is my story here. Madison is actually Letoya’s hubby, Tommicus Walker‘s daughter from a previous relationship. In other words, Letoya is her stepmother. To backtrack even further, when Letoya found out that her then-boyfriend had a daughter whose name was Madison, she believed that God had heard her prayers, as she had always prayed for a daughter whose name would be Madison, she even has a vision board in her father’s house from when she was younger, to prove it.
Stay with me here. This backstory was important to showcase the fact that perfection is relative. Sometimes, what you’re praying for can come with layers of ugly wrapping paper but you won’t find it until you’ve unwrapped it. That’s just life. Alright, I’m done with my TEDTalk.
