Tiwa Savage Just Announced She’s a Homeowner & Some People’s Reactions are just SAD

Pop singer, Tiwa Savage, has had an amazing year. From back-to-back hit singles, to signing a management deal with ROC Nation, to an amazing EP, to reuniting with her hubby T-Billz after a widely publicized marital crisis, it’s safe to say she has really bounced back.

On December 31st, the “Sugarcane” crooner took to Instagram to celebrate yet another milestone, the purchase of her very first home. Sharing a photo of an area in the home, she captioned it:

2017 I bought my First house
#ProudHomeOwner
#CashPayment
#ItWasOnlyByTheGraceOfGod
#FirstOfManyByHisGrace

Lots of people congratulated her on the happy news. But many more expressed disappointment at the fact that she didn’t mention her husband in the equation, i.e they argue that she should have said “We just bought our first house.” These dissenters expressed that by not mentioning her husband, it meant that she has no regard for him. See some of the comments below:

There were lots of similar comments like these but these three are pretty much representative of all the opinions expressed.

Discussed this matter with team QM and here are some differing views that were voiced:

“From a Christian’s perspective, when a man and wife become married, they both become ONE…and so by saying “I just bought a house” she actually means “we (me and my hubby) just bought a house.”

“It is understandable that she doesn’t want to put her marriage out there anymore, considering all the drama that happened in their marriage in the past. If you notice, she hasn’t really been posting pics of him and both of them on social media. She just wants to keep her marriage private, and mentioning him would be bringing to much attention to him again…something she may not want.”

“Hey, it’s her money and her Instagram page. She can celebrate HER milestones however she chooses to.”

“First of all, that house looks like it’s in like the US or the UK so it’s not like she’s permanently staying there. It’s probably for whenever she has gigs out there, and at least she won’t need to rent a flat/hotel, she will have her own home to stay in. Also, it’s not like her hubby and baby follow her all around the world every time she has gigs. So I would say, yes she was right for calling it HER house. It’s a place for her to lay HER head when she’s out of town.”

It’s not like her son and hubby won’t stay in the house too! People need to chill.”

Okay so let’s play devil’s advocate for a moment. What if it were TeeBillz who announced that he had just bought his first home, would anyone complain that he is disrespecting Tiwa by not mentioning her? Instead, I bet that most people would congratulate him wholeheartedly, and even congratulate both of them!

A wife’s achievement doesn’t mean the husband is less of a man and vice-versa, since they are a single unit, any success attained by either party should be celebrated to the fullest because a victory for one party means a victory for BOTH parties.

Congrats on YOUR new crib, Tiwa!
