Why am I screaming?!?

When I heard the news, the picture of architectural monochrome decor came to mind. You know, like swinging tables in the air? and cupboards that defy gravity? and such and such… If you know Solange’s work and you’re familiar with her futuristic, artsy feel to fashion, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. I’m also particularly excited because I’ve grown a love for interior spaces and the approach to how they’re designed. Her approach, I’m certain, as with all things she touches, would be pretty unorthodox.

Solange and her cultural hub, Saint Heron are teaming up with IKEA on an interior design line. In an announcement, Saint Heron shared that the creative collaboration will explore “architectural and design objects with multifunctional use.”

In a press release published in Lonny, IKEA Range & Supply’s head of design Marcus Engman, said: “Contemporary art is a huge part of people’s [lives] today. At IKEA we are curious about the creative space in between architecture, design, art, and music and how that could come alive in the homes of the many people. This is what we want to explore together with Saint Heron.”

IKEA continues to push past the norm pushing the boundary of their home offerings. Between collaborations with Virgil Abloh’s Off-White and collections focused entirely on self-care, this is yet another stride for the world’s largest furniture retailer and for Solange, another big win in line with the Saint Heron mandate – another opportunity to push intersectional cultural themes forward.

We couldn’t be more proud.
