When was the last time you went out with just yourself? No friends to gist with, no partner across the table, no group chat distractions buzzing your phone, just you, your thoughts, and maybe a really good plate of pasta.

Solo dates aren’t about being lonely. They’re about being intentional. It’s giving yourself the same effort you’d give to someone else: planning, showing up, and enjoying your own company. Honestly, I used to think it would feel weird walking into a restaurant alone. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised, if I can’t enjoy being with me, who else will?

Think about it — when you’re with friends, you compromise. When you’re on a romantic date, you’re mindful of the other person. But on a solo date? It’s all about you. You pick the restaurant you’ve been eyeing. You go see that movie no one else wanted to watch. You sit in a café with your book, order your favourite drink, and people-watch to your heart’s content.

The best part? Solo dates build confidence. Walking into a restaurant alone might feel awkward at first, but after a while, it becomes empowering. You realise you don’t need company to feel complete or to have a good time.

And let’s not lie, everyday life can be chaotic, work deadlines, family drama, traffic, everything pulling for our attention. Sometimes the most peaceful thing you can do is take yourself out, slow down, and treat yourself like the main character.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been feeling awkward about it too, but I’ve decided I’m going to try it. So let this be your motivation as much as it’s mine.

So sis, if you’ve never tried it before, here’s your sign. Book that table for one. Dress up for yourself. Take that walk. Buy yourself flowers. Because at the end of the day, learning to enjoy your own company is one of the most attractive, powerful things you can do.

Everywhere you turn, it feels like the assignment is: be smaller.

Slim down. Snatch up. Smooth out. Tone this. Tuck that.

It’s waist trainers in the morning, surgery consultations at night, and reels of people saying, “Do this to drop 10kg fast.” And honestly? It’s a lot.

Let’s be real — fat has become something to fight, not understand. And while yes, health matters, and yes, movement is good, this obsession with shrinking ourselves is becoming less about wellness and more about conforming.

This isn’t about judging anyone who’s had surgery, gone on a weight loss journey, or tried to “glow up” their body. But we do have to pause and ask: what happened to body positivity? The movement that once championed self-love in every shape and size is slowly being replaced by a silent competition of who can disappear the fastest.

Is it for health? Or is it because we’ve been told our bodies aren’t good enough unless they look like someone else’s?

Is it about confidence? Or is it about control?

The truth is, it’s okay to want to feel better in your body. It’s okay to want to change. But you don’t have to hate yourself first to get there. You don’t have to become smaller to be taken seriously. You don’t have to chase a trend to be considered beautiful.

And no, being bigger doesn’t automatically mean being unhealthy. The scale can’t tell your story. Your dress size doesn’t measure your discipline. And some of the most radiant women you’ll ever meet are the ones who walk with softness, security, and self-respect, not abs.

So breathe. You don’t have to rush into anything. You don’t have to compete with filtered bodies or surgery edits. You’re allowed to be present in the body you have right now and still be beautiful. Still be loved. Still be enough.

Let your “glow up” be rooted in truth, not trends.
Move because you love your body, not because you hate it.
Choose health because it’s good for your soul — not just your selfies.
And whatever you do, don’t let anyone make you feel like your body needs fixing before your life can begin.

Because at the core of real body positivity is this:

You’re not behind. You’re not “too big.”
You’re already worthy.

Valentine’s season is here—the flowers, the cute couple posts, the candlelit dinners. Love is in the air, but if you’re single, it might feel like the air is just… heavy. 😂 But here’s the thing, being single in Love Month isn’t a crisis. It’s not a waiting room where life is on pause until a relationship happens. And it’s not a punishment. It’s a season; like every season, it has its beauty.

The world can make it seem like February is reserved for couples, but honestly? This is the perfect time to fall deeper in love with your life. Romantic love is great, but it’s not the only love worth celebrating. Love exists in the way your friends hype you up, the warmth of family, the never-ending love of Christ, and the joy of doing what makes your heart happy. Love is everywhere—you just have to see it.

Instead of letting social media make you feel like you’re missing out, flip the script. Romanticize your own life. Take yourself out on a date, buy yourself flowers, and celebrate the love you already have. Being single isn’t about waiting for love to find you—it’s about embracing where you are, growing into the best version of yourself, and trusting that when the time is right, love will meet you there.

So, if you’re single this Love Month, own it. Enjoy it. And remember, your life is whole, beautiful, and worthy of celebration, relationship status aside. 💕

Model, actress and mother of one, Amber Rose, who got thrust into the limelight due to her relationships with famous rappers, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa, is well on her way to rebranding herself.

Amber,  34, who is frequenly shamed by detractors for being a former stripper, never hesistates to express her alternative views on just about everything, especially womens’ rights to own their sexuality and bodies. This advocacy is done in the most unorthodox ways. For instance, she encourages women to participate in a walk (a march of sorts) known as ‘slut walk.’ In defending her thought process behind this, she told Marie Claire magazine:

From the time I was a young girl—even before I was sexually active—it was a label that was placed on me. As soon as I came into the public eye, I was immediately criticized for everything from my behavior to how I chose to dress. It was undoubtedly hurtful, and getting used to the harsh words I hear so often is still something I struggle with.

Part of the reasons Rose has been so objectified in times past is due to her natural curves which can be credited in part for her fame. The beautiful hour glass-shaped mother of one mentions how she had developed big breasts by the age of 14 which grew to a cup size 36H as she gave birth to son, Sebastian Taylor Thomas.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, she mentions how her breast size had been so cumbersome that it prevented her from dancing properly with partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy in the 2016 season of hit dance show, ‘Dancing with the Stars’;  noting that it also became unbearably painful as she constantly felt heavy. The decision to do a breast reduction was an idea she had thought over for 3 years before deciding that it was time due to health reasons.

The star who admits that she was afraid that she woudn’t feel sexy acknowledges that it’s a decision she should have probably taken a while back.

“I was scared that I wouldn’t feel sexy anymore, but it got to the point where I literally was in pain.” “It was almost as if I had like a heavy backpack on my chest.”

The surgery which was a three and a half hour procedure performed by Dr. Gareth Fisher, a popular Beverly Hills surgeon, was a success with Amber going three cups down to a triple D.

“Now when I’m running out the door, I don’t have to search for the right bra to fit within the shirt or to match the color of the shirt, so, it doesn’t show and look gaudy,” Rose says. “I can kind of just throw it on and I’m like, ‘This is amazing!’ I’ve been missing this my whole life,” she says.

Would you get a breast or butt reduction if your health called for it? Or would you struggle it out for the sake of sexy?
