This year at the AMVCAs, renowned actress, TV host, and philanthropist Idia Aisien turns heads, not just with style but with purpose. Idia Aisien’s AMVCA look honours Nollywood Legends with a Powerful Fashion Tribute.

In a stunning display of creativity and homage, Idia’s first look is a breathtaking all-white gown by Ambaosa, dramatically adorned with vivid red roses—a symbolic gesture of “giving them their flowers”—to honour the late, great figures of Nollywood who paved the way. Subtly powerful and visually striking, the custom creation featuresprojected images of beloved icons including Onyeka Onwenu, Saint Obi, Justice Esiri, Francis Agu, Amaka Igwe, and more.

The fusion of fashion and technology through projection mapping transformed the dress into a living tribute, evoking emotion and reflection on a red carpet often reserved for glamour alone.

For her second AMVCA appearance, Idia switches gears and stuns in a bold, fire-themed ensemble—symbolizing resilience, rebirth, and the fiery spirit of the Nollywood industry. Idia Aisien to Star in Her Stage Debut “Dear Father” Alongside RMD, Kunle Remi & More

Acclaimed actress, Idia Aisien, is set to make her highly anticipated stage debut in “Dear Father,” a powerful and deeply moving play premiering in London in June 2025. Aisien stars as the co-lead in this groundbreaking production, which explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the critical role of men in protecting their daughters amid the rising cases of femicide.

Produced by The SUMI Group, “Dear Father,” marks the first time a chapter from The SUMI Writers’ Àtẹ́wọ́ Collection —a part of the Invisible Hands catalogue that has been in the making for over 30 years—will be brought to life on stage. The production promises to captivate audiences with its emotional depth and socially relevant message.

Joining Aisien in this landmark theatrical event is an all-star cast, including legendary actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), making his long-awaited return to the London stage after nearly four decades. Also making their stage debuts alongside Aisien are Kunle Remi and a stellar ensemble cast featuring Tobi Bakre, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Akin Lewis, Mike Edwards, Oluwaseun Ola, and Tomi Ojo.

“Dear Father” tells the poignant story of Nike, a daughter who begins to question the sacrifices her father made for her. Through this lens, the play highlights the complex father-daughter dynamic and sheds light on pressing social issues.

Changing the African Narrative One Story at a Time: Idia Aisien Launches NGO The IDIA Project

Media personality, model, and philanthropist, Idia Aisien, has officially launched an NGO that is especially close to her heart – the International Development Initiative in Africa (IDIA).

Many people know Idia as the glamorous personality on their TV screens, but what few know is that she has always been passionate about giving back to the continent, and has been doing so for many years, albeit, silently. However, she has now decided to officially launch the NGO because she desires to effect change on a massive, sustainable scale.

The IDIA Project was founded based on the premise that more people have access to various media channels; and viewer engagement online is growing rapidly. However, most of the content is negative—depicting natural disasters, political instability, recession and economic downturn.

The International Development Initiative in Africa seeks to attract increased investment, capital flow and funding; by instilling hope and a renewed faith in Africa through providing an Africa-owned framework and narrative for development. Standing as the continent’s media partner and platform to showcase its progress at regional and international levels through our reports.

IDIA’s mission is to eradicate poverty, promote sustainable growth and development, integrate Africa in the world economy, and accelerate the empowerment of women, men and children by telling the other half of the story.

To this end, they will showcase Africa’s commitment to good governance, democracy, human rights and conflict resolution; and the recognition of bodies that are creating exemplary platforms that will increase employment, attract investment and long-term economic growth.
