At just 17, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State has given Nigeria a reason to beam with pride. Representing her school and her country, she went head-to-head with thousands of teenagers from around the globe and emerged the best in English at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.

Competing against 20000 students from 69 countries, including native English-speaking nations, she showed the world that excellence knows no boundaries.

For Nafisa, this wasn’t just about winning a medal. It was the reward of years of study, dedication, and quiet discipline in preparing for something great, even when no one was watching. Her story is a reminder that big dreams can flourish in the most unexpected places, and that the size of your hometown does not dictate the scope of your destiny.

Her family’s joy is unmatched, and their gratitude to the teachers and mentors who helped her along the way speaks volumes. They see her victory not just as a personal achievement, but as a moment that belongs to every Nigerian child who dares to dream.

Leaders across the country have celebrated her, with some calling for her to be honoured at the highest levels. And truly, in a country where sports champions are rewarded and celebrated, it’s only fitting that academic champions like Nafisa should also be given their flowers.

Nafisa’s story is one of hope and proof — hope for every young person who wonders if their hard work will pay off, and proof that it can. She’s living evidence that talent paired with commitment can open doors across continents. Today, she stands as a symbol of what’s possible when young people are given the tools, opportunities, and encouragement to soar.

Congratulations, Nafisa. May this be just the beginning of many victories, and may your light continue to shine for Nigeria and the world to see.
