Widely associated with mega rap star Flo Rida, the budding singer/songwriter who is steadily carving a niche for himself with unique experimentation of sounds (which has earned him millions of streams), made a video confirmation specially addressing his Nigerian fans, where he expressed eagerness to answering any and all questions pertaining to his music career. Despite his recent entry, Marco, who just signed a deal with Artbeatz/Sony Entertainment has been making quite a number of high profile guest appearances, including the Wendy Williams Show and Nickelodeon’s Halo Awards.

With questions ranging from Marco’s performances at sold out stadiums and dimly lit bars to his debut single, “Simple Things” among topical issues to be addressed, Celeb StopOver intends to connect the New Yorker closer to his growing fan base in Africa. After being confirmed as the June 24 Celeb StopOver guest, Marco would be joining the league of superstars across the world including Queen Brittany (USA), Eckoes (UK), Banky W (Nigeria), M.anifest (Ghana), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Stanley Enow (Cameroon), Reggie Rockstone (Ghana), Mi Casa (South African House band), DJ Ganyani (South Africa), Vector (Nigeria), Kwesta (South Africa), iLLBliss (Nigeria), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Frank Donga (Nigeria), Lady Jaydee (Tanzania), Zakes Bantwini (South Africa ), Aisha Wanjiku (Kenya) and a lot more who have been featured on the show.

“The Nigerian actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington can’t walk down the street in Lagos without getting mobbed, and if she’s with her husband, the actor Banky Wellington, forget it—a trip to the grocery store launches a thousand selfies. But unlike some of her cohorts on the shoot, she’s more of a third-culture kid, born in Nigeria and raised mainly in England. (She speaks in two fluent accents—Lagos and the British Midlands.) She went to school in Coventry, studied drama at University of Wolverhampton, and then got a nine-to-five job with the fashion arm of a large supermarket chain. It was then that, as she puts it, “I can’t explain it—I felt I had to go back to Nigeria.”

That was toward the end of 2012, and in the past six years or so she has become one of the biggest stars in Nollywood, Nigeria’s relatively young film industry. The Wedding Party (2016), a colorful and witty romantic comedy in which she plays the lead opposite Wellington, was the highest-grossing film in the history of Nigerian cinema, until it was eclipsed by its sequel, which also starred Etomi-Wellington. Her husband Banky W, who we know supports her immensely, was actually the first person to announce the news on Instagram:

You may recall that on that date, he declared his intentions to run for public office, disclosing that he would be vying for the Federal House of Representatives spot for the Eti Osa Constituency under Modern Democratic Party (MDP).

Over the past couple of months, we have watched Banky make bold and courageous strides in his campaign, and making admirable progress – defying the odds against him.

On Saturday 23rd February 2019, Banky took to Instagram to share the news that he had won the majority of votes at a Lekki Phase 1 polling unit, with 575 votes, beating PDP and APC with 540 and 454 votes respectively.

“Thank you to EVERYONE who voted, volunteered and donated. Collation of all polling units in Eti-Osa is still ongoing, but regardless of the final outcome, please take a GOOD LOOK at how we won my polling unit in Lekki 1!!! No Godfather, logo issues, crowd sourced fundraising, online trolling.. many said we were wasting our time, but we took our unknown party and built our agent structure in less than 3 months – and we upset the big boys in multiple polling units.
We proved that it CAN be done. 
The movement has begun. We must sustain this momentum. This is only the beginning.

Although collation is still ongoing and we are all waiting on INEC for the final announcement of results, it looks like he stands a great chance of winning. Regardless of the final outcome, he has inspired enough people in our generation to realize what they can achieve if they stand up for themselves and stand together.
