It’s a launch for the history books—and it’s powered by women. Flight NS-31, which took off April 14, is more than just another trip to space. It’s the first all-female space crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo mission in 1963, and one of the most diverse groups of women to ever leave Earth together.

From pop icons and scientists to journalists and advocates, these women are each bringing their full selves into this historic moment. And while they all come from different walks of life, what connects them is their shared courage to step into the unknown, and their commitment to making space not just a destination, but a source of inspiration.

Lauren Sanchez is the force behind the mission’s vision. A journalist, bestselling author, pilot, and mother of three, Lauren founded the first female-owned aerial film company and is passionate about storytelling from the skies. Her dream? To inspire a new generation of explorers—especially girls—to see themselves in the stars.

Katy Perry brings star power in more ways than one. Known globally for her music, she’s also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and the founder of the Firework Foundation. Katy hopes this journey reminds her daughter and everyone watching that there’s no dream too far when you believe in your light.

Amanda Nguyễn is a scientist and activist whose journey is as bold as it is brilliant. With experience at NASA and MIT, and recognition as a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Amanda represents resilience, advocacy, and the power of using science to heal and unite.

Aisha Bowe is redefining who gets to explore space. A former NASA rocket scientist and CEO of two STEM-focused companies, Aisha is taking experiments and student dreams with her. Her mission reflects access, representation, and the beauty of beginning from anywhere—even community college.

Gayle King is showing us it’s never too late to try something new. As a beloved journalist and media personality, Gayle has spent decades telling other people’s stories. Now, she’s stepping into a new one of her own—one rooted in bravery, curiosity, and openness to the unknown.

Kerianne Flynn brings heart and humanity to the crew. From fashion and HR to nonprofit work and filmmaking, her career has always centered around building community and telling meaningful stories. She hopes her flight will inspire her son and other young dreamers to reach higher.

Together, these women are not just launching into space, they’re making history. They are mothers, scientists, artists, advocates, and visionaries, and their presence on this mission is a loud, beautiful reminder that womanhood and wonder go hand in hand. And maybe that’s what makes this moment so powerful. It tells a new story—one where women don’t have to shrink or choose. One where faith and ambition can coexist. One where being soft doesn’t mean being small.

Whether you’re a woman in tech, a woman in ministry, a woman in transition, or a woman still figuring it all out, this space flight is for you too. Because if these women have taught us anything, it’s that the stars are not too far and neither are your dreams
