Lagos Fashion Week is more than just a showcase of clothes; it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and individuality. Over the years, it has become the heartbeat of African fashion, spotlighting designers who redefine what it means to be stylish, expressive, and proudly rooted in our heritage.

This year’s edition, themed “In Full Bloom,” celebrated fifteen years of shaping the future of African fashion. The theme highlighted how the event continues to nurture creativity, champion sustainability, and open doors for new and established designers to thrive. It was a reminder that African fashion isn’t just evolving, it’s blooming on a global stage.

But beyond the runway, the street style moments tell their own story. This year, we spotted a few effortlessly elegant looks that gave modest fashion the shine it deserves.

Idia Aisien turned heads in a chic monochrome ensemble — simple, structured, and so timeless. Oluwaseunayooo brought a soft yet confident charm to her look, proving that modesty and sophistication are always in style.

We also couldn’t get enough of Omowunmi “Mimi” Onalaja’s look and Simi Od’s outfit — graceful, playful, and perfectly Lagos Fashion Week coded.

Each of these women reminded us that modest fashion isn’t about hiding; it’s about showing up with intention, confidence, and grace.

In a world where faith and fashion are often placed at opposite ends of the spectrum, Olubukola Ogunniyi is gracefully bridging both worlds. Tall, striking, and unmissable on the runway, she embodies everything that makes a model magnetic. Yet, beyond the glamour, she carries a deeper identity: a daughter of Christ who refuses to dim her light.

At QueenMoremi.com, we celebrate Christian women who move the world – women whose lives prove that success and faith can co-exist. Olubukola’s story is a reminder that Christ is not confined to the pulpit; He shines through boardrooms, classrooms, studios, and yes -even catwalks.

A Childhood Shaped by Faith

Olubukola’s journey began in Oyo State, where her childhood was marked by both loss and resilience. She lost her father at just three years old and later, her mother at 22. Yet, instead of leaving her broken, these experiences grounded her in the faith her mother instilled.

“My mum placed her faith upon a solid rock, which is Christ,” she recalls. “She always reminded us that Christ is our Father here on earth. Anytime we needed anything, she’d turn to God first. That became our normal.”

It’s this solid spiritual foundation that has continued to anchor Olubukola, even in the ever-shifting, high-pressure world of fashion.

Olubukola Ogunniyi childhood shaped by faithFrom Accounting to the Runway

Olubukola may now be a recognisable face on runways, but modelling wasn’t her first dream. She studied accounting at Yaba College of Technology, a path she pursued after financial challenges forced her to give up an earlier admission into International Relations.

But destiny had other plans. Her towering 6ft frame often drew questions: “Are you a model? Are you a basketballer?” And while she initially brushed it off, an invitation to walk in a student fashion show at Yaba Tech revealed a new passion.

From that moment, doors opened. Designers noticed her, offers came in, and modelling – though unexpected – became a God-ordained chapter in her life. “It felt seamless,” she reflects. “I believe it was God telling me to try something new.”

Navigating the Fashion Industry with Christ at the Center

The modelling world is often described as cutthroat, and stories of exploitation, rejection, and underpayment are common. But Olubukola’s experience has been different — not because the challenges don’t exist, but because she’s learned to navigate them with wisdom and faith.

“I was already mature when I started at 24,” she explains. “I knew what I wanted, and I set boundaries early. I don’t mingle too much, and I always keep my focus. To the glory of God, I’ve never been taken advantage of.”

That doesn’t mean the journey has been without disappointments. She recalls one painful moment when a designer she had once collaborated with rejected her for a new collection, claiming her face was “everywhere.” It stung – but instead of bowing to discouragement, Olubukola used the setback as fuel.

That moment taught me to value myself more,” she says. She created a professional rate card, stopped accepting random collaborations, and began curating her own projects. “Rejection pushed me to set higher standards.”

Being a christian model, faith and fashionRaising the Next Generation of Models

Today, Olubukola isn’t just walking runways; she’s guiding others. Young women, including those from her church, often come to her for advice. Her message is clear: Be mature, be prepared, and invest in yourself.

“This industry comes with rejection,” she says. “You’ll hear ‘no’ many times. If you’re not mentally and emotionally mature, it can break you. That’s why I tell upcoming models: Finish your education, be grounded, and know who you are before stepping in.”

Practical preparation matters too. She reminds young models to save money for self-investment – skincare, masterclasses, and personal projects. “You can’t just wait for jobs. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities,” she adds.

Faith, Fashion, and the Secret Place

At the heart of Olubukola’s journey is her unshakable faith. She describes her spiritual discipline – prayer, worship, and time in the Word – as her “secret place,” the foundation for everything she does.

“People often ask me how I’m in fashion but don’t do too much partying or compromising,” she smiles. “The truth is, my secret place with God shapes me. Everything you see on the outside was first built there.”

Even in the middle of shoots or industry hangouts, she carries that presence. She remembers one moment when friends found her listening to a sermon in the middle of a bustling studio. “They said I was in another realm,” she laughs.

Christian women in fashionLooking Ahead: Deelevite and Beyond

Beyond modelling, Olubukola is channelling her creativity into fashion entrepreneurship. Her upcoming streetwear line, Deelevite, will launch with freestyle tees and baggy jeans, serving as an entry point into a broader vision.

“I want Deelevite to be more than clothes. It’s about creating awareness of a brand with depth and originality,” she shares.

And as conversations swirl around AI replacing models, Olubukola remains confident in the irreplaceable essence of humanity. “AI can create images, yes, but it can’t capture the originality of culture, tradition, or emotion. There’s still a place for real models.”

Her Message to Models and Every Woman

If Olubukola could gather every model in one room, her message would be simple but profound:

“Take your secret place with God seriously. Don’t joke with Him. That is the center of everything that happens in your life.”

For her, success is not about fame or the applause of the runway. It’s about shining the light of Christ boldly, wherever God places her. And in doing so, Olubukola Ogunniyi is proving that fashion and faith are not opposites – they are both canvases for God’s glory.

__________

At QM, we call it Holy Couture – when style meets Spirit, and when women like Olubukola show the world that faith will always be in fashion.

The Ginger movie premiere wasn’t just about film; it was a full-on fashion moment. With a Peaky Blinders theme, the stars brought vintage swagger to the red carpet — sharp tailoring, brooding shades, and that old-school edge reimagined for today. Everyone showed up ready to channel that gangster-chic energy, and honestly, it was a vibe.

Bolaji Ogunmola leaned all the way into the aesthetic with a power suit that felt like it could walk straight off a Birmingham set.

Ini Dima-Okojie kept things refined and sleek, proving once again why she’s a red-carpet darling.

Adesua Etomi-Wellington was her usual elegant self, polished and intentional in a way that fit the theme without trying too hard.

KieKie brought her playful but edgy twist — because, let’s be honest, she always finds a way to stand out.

And Lily Afe turned heads with a bold, statement-making take on the theme — sharp, confident, and dripping with that Peaky edge.

It was a night where vintage tailoring met Nigerian glam, and the balance was perfect. If the cast of Peaky Blinders ever needed a Lagos cameo, these stars just proved they’d more than hold their own.

What we loved most? The premiere proved that modest fashion can still serve drama — sharp, chic, and unforgettable.

So now we’re curious — which look was your fave?

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards lit up Los Angeles on September 7, 2025, and while trophies were being handed out inside, the red carpet had its own winners — not just about who won, but who wore something unforgettable in elegance, personality, and creativity. Here are some looks that made us stop scrolling and take notes.

Selena Gomez in a cherry-red Louis Vuitton gown with Tiffany & Co. jewels at the 77th Emmys 2025

Selena Gomez stepped out in a cherry-red halter Louis Vuitton gown, featuring a dramatic cape and sleek column silhouette. Her jewellery from Tiffany & Co. — rubies and diamonds — didn’t just complement the dress; they elevated it. The whole look was polished: slick ponytail, glowing skin, and lips that matched that ruby red."Scarlett Johansson in butter-yellow Prada, one of the Emmys 2025 best dressed moments"

Scarlett Johansson kept it soft but striking in butter-yellow Prada — a strapless column gown with delicate ruching that gave texture without losing elegance. Her accessories were simple but purposeful: silver platforms, a sleek clutch, letting the colour and cut do the talking.

Angela Bassett glowing in a sequin Yara Shoemaker gown with Lagos jewelry at the Emmys 2025"

Angela Bassett shone in a gold and silver sequin Yara Shoemaker gown with vertical crystal panels, paired with Lagos jewellery. Every step she took glowed — there was drama, there was richness, there was confidence.

"Sheryl Lee Ralph in custom Diane von Furstenberg, old Hollywood glam at the Emmys 2025

Sheryl Lee Ralph in custom Diane von Furstenberg, paired with Baronessa jewellery and Jimmy Choo shoes, brought old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist. The silhouette had structure, the accessories had character, and the whole look had that stage-stealer quality.

These looks reminded us why red carpets matter, not just for fashion’s sake, but for the way they let women tell stories in colour, silhouette, and presence. At the Emmys this year, modest glam didn’t whisper, it roared.

Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi turned what could’ve been just a wedding into an unforgettable global fashion story. Their trilogy of ceremonies in Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland is still buzzing on my mind because these looks weren’t just outfits. They were mood, meaning, and pure magic.

In Monaco, the couple’s civil ceremony felt intimate yet elegant. Temi wore a custom Wiederhoeft suit that was refreshingly tailored; Mr Eazi stood by her in Louis Vuitton, equally polished. After they said “I do,” Temi switched into a polka-dot Christopher John Rogers dress—just the right touch of fun. It was calm, sophisticated, and unmistakably a fit for the two of them.

Then came Dubai, where tradition met couture. At the Otedola family home, Temi showcased multiple bespoke outfits—designed by the likes of Zac Posen, Miss Sohee, Lisa Folawiyo, and Oscar de la Renta. Each look was a graceful nod to culture, rendered through a high-fashion lens. Mr Eazi matched her energy with custom looks of his own, walking in to drumming and making a statement without ever overpowering hers. The setting, complete with lanterns, Ankara accents, and a live King Sunny Adé performance, felt like a beautifully choreographed cultural embrace.

The final act happened in Iceland, where their dream wedding became cinematic reality. Temi made her entrance in Hallgrímskirkja church wearing an Audrey Hepburn–inspired Fendi gown—the kind that steals breath and keeps it. Mr Eazi complemented her in Saint Laurent, understated but commanding. Their reception unfolded under a glass tent in a field, where music, mist, and perhaps even the Northern Lights made it feel less wedding, more dream sequence.

People are still reposting the photos, still gushing over how each outfit spoke not just to fashion—but to their love story. That’s the thing about true style: it lingers, it inspires, and it reminds us why some weddings will always live rent-free in our minds.

Modest doesn’t have to mean melting under 35-degree heat. Summer is here, and that doesn’t mean you have to compromise your style or your standards. Whether you’re running errands, heading to church, or catching brunch with friends, you can be cool, covered, and completely yourself.

Here are five modest summer outfit ideas that keep it cute and comfortable:

Matching linen co-ords, summer outfit ideas1. The Linen Set Era

Matching linen co-ords are a summer cheat code. They’re breezy, breathable, and effortlessly stylish. Go for pastel or earthy tones — think sage, terracotta, ivory — and pair with sandals or chunky sneakers. Add statement earrings, and you’re golden.

An oversized button-down with pleated trousers, modest summer outfit2. The Elevated Oversized Shirt

This one’s for the girls who love easy drama. An oversized button-down (white, striped, or even Ankara print) with wide-leg jeans or pleated trousers is the look. Roll up your sleeves, layer a tank top inside if needed, and finish with minimalist jewellery and flats.

modest summer dresses3. The Soft Girl Maxi

Lightweight, flowy dresses in soft cotton or viscose are made for summer. Whether it’s floral prints or solid pastels, these dresses let you breathe and twirl through the day. Style with strappy flats or sneakers for that effortlessly modest, pretty-girl vibe. Bonus points if the dress has pockets.

a high-waisted A-line or pleated midi skirt with a tucked-in tee or a structured blouse, summer outfit idea4. The Skirt Combo That Never Misses

Pair a high-waisted A-line or pleated midi skirt with a tucked-in tee or a structured blouse. It’s feminine, flattering, and functional. You can dress it up with heels or keep it chill with sneakers — your call.

The Adam Sandler summer oufit idea5. The Adam Sandler

Yes, you read that right. Think oversized T-shirt + baggy shorts + dad sneakers + a baseball cap = peak comfort. It’s unbothered. Effortless. Surprisingly chic when styled right. It’s the outfit you throw on without thinking and somehow still get compliments. Add small hoops or a cute bag to dress it up just a little.

baggy shorts and baggy shirt modest outfit ideaYou don’t have to sacrifice comfort for coverage or style for standards. These modest summer outfit ideas are proof that you can show up, stand out, and still keep things easy, breezy, and you.

Fashion is never just about clothes. It’s about identity. Culture. Expression. And for many women, it’s also about faith. But what happens when what your culture expects from you and what you feel convicted about spiritually don’t exactly align?

From head coverings to hemlines, modesty debates to makeup bans, fashion has long been one of the most debated topics in faith circles. And let’s be honest, it can get confusing real quick.

Growing up, many of us heard things like “a good girl doesn’t wear that,” or “a Christian woman should dress like this.” Sometimes those rules came from older relatives. Other times, they came from the pulpit. But either way, the message was clear: your outfit could either prove your holiness or cancel it.

But here’s the thing: cultural modesty isn’t the same as biblical modesty.
The Bible never provided a dress code list — no colour charts or minimum skirt lengths. What it does say is that modesty is about heart posture before it is about fabric choice (1 Timothy 2:9-10). It’s about humility, dignity, and intention, not control or shame.

So when someone says you’re “inviting sin” with your style or that only a certain look is holy, it’s okay to ask: Is that biblical truth or cultural bias?

Because let’s be real, culture evolves.
In some cultures, trousers on women were once scandalous. Now, we wear them to church, to weddings, and even in pulpits. In others, covering your hair is expected. In some, jewellery is frowned upon. And in many African homes, traditional attire is sacred, but even that has been questioned by certain denominations.

What matters is not whether you’re wearing Ankara or denim, heels or sneakers.
What matters is why you’re wearing it.

A confWhat should i wear as a christian girl for modest fashionident woman in Christian modest fashion, expressing faith and culture through style.

That said, we also can’t ignore this: how we dress speaks before we do.
People won’t always know your heart, but they will see your appearance. And as believers, our lives are called to reflect Jesus, not just in kindness and character, but sometimes in the quiet details, too.

No, that doesn’t mean blending in or dressing without style. But it does mean dressing with intention — asking, Does what I wear align with who I say I follow?
It’s not about being policed. It’s about being mindful.

Because while God looks at the heart, people see the outside. And if our style can help someone see Christ more clearly in us — or at least feel His peace in our presence—then it’s worth thinking about.

Are you dressing from a place of freedom or fear?
Are you honouring your body and your beliefs?
Is your style helping you show up as who God created you to be — bold, beautiful, and authentic?

Because when your closet becomes a reflection of your values, not a battlefield for guilt or shame, that’s when you know you’re wearing the Word right.

So yes — wear your favourites. Play with style. Be expressive.
But let it be rooted in truth, not pressure.
Let it point to Christ, not just trends. And most importantly, let it feel like you.

When it comes to red carpet fashion, the Tony Awards are known for celebrating creativity, elegance, and a touch of Broadway flair.

But this year, we were especially inspired by the women who graced the carpet with modesty, confidence, and style that didn’t compromise their values. In a world that often equates glamour with revealing, these stunning looks proved that you can be both fashion-forward and faith-filled.

Whether you’re dressing for church, a wedding, or simply seeking inspiration for your next elevated look, these modest fashion moments from the Tonys are worth bookmarking. Let’s celebrate style that honors both beauty and grace. Here are fave looks from the Tony Awards 2025 red carpet:

Award-winning actress and singer Michelle Williams exuded timeless elegance in a floor-length Bibhu Mohapatra dress. The sleek silhouette, subtle draping, and refined detailing elevated the look, while the rich fabric and impeccable tailoring made it a true red carpet standout. Williams proved that understated glamour can still steal the spotlight.

Danielle Brooks looked absolutely stunning in this outfit. Everyone is posting this photo but no one seems to be crediting the designer for some reason? Anyways, Danielle girl, we love you in this outfit 🙂

Audra McDonald brought regal sophistication to the 2025 Tony Awards in a custom Christian Siriano gown that beautifully balanced drama and modesty. The look featured a sculptural black sequin bodice with elegant coverage and architectural shoulder detailing, adding modern edge without revealing too much. Not every slay day needs to be a red carpet moment. Some days, you just want to look effortlessly good, like you know what you’re doing, but didn’t stress about it. You want “she looks cute” energy with “this old thing?” effort. And the best part? It’s way easier than it looks.
Here are a few styling tips that keep the slay slaying — even on casual days:

Throw on a matching set.
It could be co-ords, a lounge set, or that linen two-piece you’ve had on repeat. Matching sets are a cheat code. You’ll look stylish and intentional without spending 30 minutes mixing and matching. Add your fave slides or sneakers, and boom, outfit.

Add one piece that makes you feel expensive
It could be a sleek pair of sunglasses or a structured bag. You don’t need to go designer. It just needs to give your outfit a main character. Trust, one good piece can make your whole outfit look like a soft life declaration.

Sneakers are the new heels.
We love comfort, but we also love the girls who know how to make a statement in chunky white sneakers or retro trainers. They work with dresses, skirts, or oversized shirts. Throw them on, and suddenly your outfit has a vibe.

Accessories are your secret weapon.
Minimal doesn’t mean missing. Layer two gold chains, wear those tiny hoops, stack your rings, a clean wristwatch, just something to make the outfit pop. A little glint goes a long way.
How to style your everyday looks
Hair and lip gloss? Mood setters.
A slick bun, newly revamped wig, bold braids whatever your go-to is, own it. Then swipe on your lip liner and fave gloss, and boom. Clean girl energy activated.

Remember, scent is part of the look.
Don’t underestimate the power of walking past someone and hearing “You smell good.” It completes the vibe. Like, yes, I look chill, but I’m still giving.

Your confidence is the final layer.
You can wear the most curated outfit and still feel “off” if you don’t feel like yourself. Slay isn’t just in what you wear, it’s in how you wear it. Stand tall, smile more, and remember who you are. That’s the real style hack.

So no, you don’t need a stylist. You just need a few go-to pieces, a little confidence, and a mirror that hypes you up. Everyday slay is a mindset. And if anyone asks — yes, you woke up like this.
