All eyes are on Telangana, India, as the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant draws near — promising not just glamour, but a celebration of purpose, culture, and resilience. Set to take place on Saturday, May 31 at the Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Centre (HITEX), this year’s competition is shaping up to be one of the most globally diverse and meaningful yet.
A total of 110 contestants from countries and territories around the world are set to compete, with several nations — including Albania, Armenia, Equatorial Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, North Macedonia, Suriname, and Zambia — making a return to the Miss World stage. And among them, Africa’s finest beauty queens are not only representing their countries but stepping confidently into a series of challenges that test far more than looks.
Talent Challenge
On May 22, contestants will participate in the Talent Challenge at Shilpakala Vedika, presenting performances in music, dance, and art. This event allows the African delegates to share their rich cultural heritage and artistic expressions with a global audience.
Head-to-Head Challenge
Scheduled for May 23 at Hotel Trident, the Head-to-Head Challenge will test contestants’ communication skills and understanding of global issues. The contestants will engage in one-on-one discussions, articulating their perspectives and solutions to pressing world matters.
Top Model Challenge
Between May 23 and 24, the Top Model Challenge will assess the contestants’ poise and fashion sense. This segment includes a Jewellery and Pearl Fashion Show and interactions with Telangana’s leading fashion designers, offering African queens a platform to display their style and grace.
Beauty With a Purpose
On May 26 at HITEX, the Beauty With a Purpose presentations will spotlight the social service projects led by the contestants. Contestants will present initiatives aimed at addressing issues such as education, health, and community development, reflecting their dedication to effecting positive change.
