Simisola Gbadamosi, youngest Nigerian to be nominated for and Emmy for her role in Disney's Iwaju

At just 13 years old, Simisola Gbadamosi is already a history-maker. She’s the youngest Nigerian ever to be nominated for an Emmy, earning a spot in the Outstanding Younger Voice Performer category for her role as Tola Martins in Disney’s Iwájú. The animated series, set in a futuristic Lagos, has been praised for its storytelling, and Simisola’s performance is at the heart of it. But beyond her success in animation, there’s so much more to this young star.

Here are three things you might not know about her:

She Started a Business at 5 Years Old
At just five, Simisola launched Simi’s Bake House, her own baking business specializing in cookies and brownies. A portion of the profits goes toward supporting disadvantaged kids, showing her heart for giving back even at a young age.

She’s a Writer Too!
When she’s not behind the mic, Simisola is crafting short stories and poems, letting her creativity flow in more ways than one. With a passion for storytelling, we wouldn’t be surprised if she adds “author” to her growing list of achievements in the future.

She’s An Award-Winning Entrepreneur
At just six years old, Simisola’s creativity and business skills were already being recognized. In 2017, she won the Best Creative Kid Entrepreneur Award at the Bella Africana ACE Awards, solidifying her status as a young powerhouse.

When she’s not acting, writing, or running a business, Simisola enjoys reading and playing the violin, always finding new ways to learn and grow. Her extraordinary journey is proof that young African girls are breaking barriers every day, and she’s just getting started.

We love to see it!
