In today’s episode of Naija no dey carry last, we bring you this great news about Nigerian-American actress Yvonne Orji. She was one of the six honorees of the night, winning a ‘Rising Star’ Award, at the BET Her Awards, which took place on Thursday, June 21st in Los Angeles.
Hosted by singer, songwriter and actress Brandy, the awards ceremony celebrated the advancement and accomplishments of women of color across a spectrum of industries and included a special spotlight on two deserving non-profit organizations dedicated to serving in the upliftment and empowerment of women of color.
The event brought together some female powerhouses in media and television for a night out treat to dinner and festivities leading up to the BET 2018 awards, while celebrating their accomplishments.

Perhaps, we should push for a Nigerian version much similar to this that empowers and celebrates women in media? It’s a thought.
