The CFDA Fashion Awards, which honors excellence in fashion design, has been called “the Oscars of fashion”. According to Wikipedia, nominations are submitted by the Fashion Guild, a group of over 1,500 CFDA members, fashion editors, retailers and stylists.
The 2018 edition of the ceremony took place last night and the stars showed up and truly showed out. Our favorite designers, models, and style insiders put their best sartorial foot forward for the annual event.
Supermodel, Naomi Campbell received the night’s biggest honor: The Icon Award.
Also present were designers Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss, Aurora James of Brother Vellies, as well as Lupita Nyong’o and Oprah Winfrey.
Insecure star and producer Issa Rae was the event’s MC — a first for the awards as she was the first Black woman to ever host the event. Rae dazzled on the red carpet in a bespoke Pyer Moss gown that was embellished with over 180,000 Swarovski crystals. And staying true to her quirky eccentric self, she wore a thin belt that read: “Every N—- Is a Star.”
Oh what a time to be alive!
