Adrienne Bailon, popular 31-year-old singer, actress and co-host of daytime show, ‘The Real,’ recently shared a few details about her life on an Instagram live video she recorded for her fans.
Adrienne first became publicly known when she rose to fame as one of the founding members of girl froup, 3LW (1999–2007) and The Cheetah Girls (2003–2008). From her rise to fame came a silence as the group, 3LW disintegrated due to internal differences and a drop in sales, and after the end of her time with The Cheetah girls, it was unclear just what direction her career path was leading. Upon going solo, Adrienne was quoted as saying that she couldn’t create an album due to her fear of failure.
They told me my voice sounded really young and when I got my solo record deal at Def Jam, things did not go as expected.
Adrienne has experienced her fair share of hiccups in life. From a failed engagement to a man she had dated for over 6 years, to a failed solo singing career ,which she tried to kick start several times to no avail; seeing her win elicits hope and assurance that sometimes, life’s journey to purpose isn’t always so pleasant.
Currently, frostsnow reports not only is she thriving financially with an estimated networth of $2.8 million, she is also happily married to Gospel musician, Israel Houghton.
We bagged a few self care tips from her that we’ve shared below:
She wakes up to her favorite worship song
Adrienne speaks about growing up across the street from church. Her mother would cook meals every sunday for some of the people at church and the genesis of her singing began there. She mentions how key it is to wake up to positivity as you begin the day-a method she says she’s acquired through ensuring that her worship song is her alarm tone. It helps to set the tone for your day.
She creates short-term goals; her current one is to be at her healthiest
Health really is wealth for Adrienne. She mentions that she wishes to do cardio everyday and work on her lifestyle in general to ensure that she is at her healthiest. She mentions that she sets short-term goals that enable her to work towards the bigger goal. This is often advised as it helps to keep you from getting overwhelmed.
I want to already be super healthy so that by the time I have kids, it’s something I can pass on to them.
She only keeps independent and optimistic friends
I can’t do high maintenance friends who are clingy and dependent. I am incredibly busy and a newly-wed and really family oriented so I love a friend who understands that. I love to laugh so I love a friend who’s also positive.
The quality of your friends can readily enhance or destabilise your life because they naturally have an influence on you. Not only that, if you have to ask yourself “why” whenever you spend time with certain individuals, and you never seem to achieve your goals or to-do lists for that day whenever you are with them, you might want to assess those friendships. Are you able to operate in your own space without them feeling left out or neglected? The more your friends are goal-getters, the more you’ll be inspired to work at your goals.
4. She is highly grateful for everything she owns
I remember not living in a house, we lived in the projects, so I am highly appreciative of my home right now.
Adrienne who has been relatively open about her early beginnings in poverty doesn’t hesitate to speak about her need to be thankful for even the most of minute of things because she realises that it can so easily be taken away. She ensures that she expresses thanks on a regular basis. She’s not alone; many self-care experts have opined that keeping a gratitude journal is a great way to lead a better quality of life.
The video ends with her gospel-singer husband, Israel Houghton, awarding her the Youtube plaque for having grown to over 100,000 subscribers within a short period of inception. In the letter from Youtube, she is described as role model and a positive influence to many and Adrienne can’t hold back her tears as she thanks her fans and is genuinely surprised at the gesture.
If you’re reading this and wondering where or how you’re going to go from your 0 to 100, it may not seem likely and the possibility might appear so grim as you might be facing your fair share of obstacles, make sure you hang in there and like Adrienne, ensure you’re taking care of yourself. Your glow up is about to begin and you’ll want to look the part!
