CultureFit is redefining what sportswear for women should look like. We had gotten so used to the monochrome Ivy-Park ‘esque’ gear that we were completely taken off guard seeing African and Aztec print being translated into Athletic outfits that were not only unique but flattering for the female form.

Not only are their sports gear imprinted, the prints are used on yoga mats which are also eco friendly and free of allergy prone fabrics such as silicone, latex, PVC and chlorine. The mats are also 3.5mm dense to prevent body and joint aches.

Responsible for this revolution are the CultureFit founders; a trio of women of West African descent that are into yoga and green smoothies with occasional extra cheese pizza cheats. Staying true to their eccentric nature, the team of three prefer to go unnamed, as they want the focus to be on their brand.

We are searching for connection — with our culture. With ourselves. With the world.

The CultureFit woman is defined by her lack of confinement and inspired by her need to break out of the norm and not fit into any boxes. The  brand was birthed from a need to connect wellness, womanhood and global consciousness in a way that not only pursued healthy living but one that also promoted comfort and body positivity.

We wanted to create high-quality, high-performance activewear that looked and felt amazing, in designs that showcased our culture.

The brand which kick started with traditional, darker, West African prints, soon morphed into bolder, more feminine colours true to modern taste. Despite the founders being of West African descent, the brand is bent on being all-inclusive of all women from different cultures and identities.

We invite women of all backgrounds to enjoy our clothes. To celebrate not only our culture, but to embrace  all the different cultures of the world.

“A woman, standing in her true power, can shape the world. We created CultureFit so you’d have something to wear.” Their about section on their website states.

We’re thrilled at the inclusion of Africa in spaces we didn’t dream possible only a decade ago; the recognition and the way our culture is being embraced is definitely one for the books and we’re particularly enthused that the women from CultureFit are doing their bit to ensure that this becomes the new African narrative. Africa to the world, indeed.
