History is about to be made at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang, as three ambitious Nigerian-American women who make up Nigeria’s first ever Women’s bobsled team, will be competing.
Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga, and Ngozi Onwumere are the audacious women, and we are in awe of them.
Not only will they be the first ever Nigerian bobsled team to take part in the Olympics, more importantly, they will be the first ever Winter Olympians from Nigeria.
Speaking to Buzzfeed News about the importance of their mission, Adigun said:
“Making it to the Olympic Games will be a very pivotal moment in not only the history of Nigeria and African, but also in the sport of bobsled,” Adigun wrote. “Everyone is aware of how special this situation is, and we are all in agreement that the foundations of this team need to be solid.”
It’s also interesting to note that these ladies have absolutely NO prior experience with the bobsled sport. They are in fact, still learning how to bobsled, and their team is less than 18 months old. Something else that is so inspiring about the team is that although there were no funds available to enable them train for the Olympics, they did not let this deter them. They created a GoFundMe page to raise cash and so far, they have been able to raise $75,000.

This just proves that of you have a dream; you should pursue it with all of your heart. Ladies, do not let less than perfect situations keep you from fearlessly pursuing those goals. Noted author Paulo Coehlo once said, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Stay encouraged and always believe you have all the tools necessary to achieve your goals.
